great weekend…

I definitely had a great weekend !Unfortunately I couldn´t do something on Friday night because I had to babysit the two kids but it was okay and I just chilled at home and watched V for Vendetta 
But it isn´t too nice with commercials every 10 minutes haha. But Saturday was great . It all started with this stupid english class placement test and I had to be there at 11 15 and that was the reason why I had to get up at 8 . AT EIGHT ON MY DAY OFF!!But the test only took like ten minutes and then I met Gustaf because he took his test at the same time and we walked down to 95th street because I wanted to check out a Hostel. After checking out the hostel I wanted to return my shirt at century 21 but they were closed. Too bad ….But after that the exciting Saturday started ! We met Emma because we were planning on going to Governors Island because they hold a dutch festival there but when we saw the line for the ferry we decided that it it would be better to take the Staten Island ferry instead because you have a beatiful view of all the bridges and Lower Manhattan and Jersey and even Brookyln . So we took the ferry and walked around on Staten Island for about an hour and then we took the ferry back and we were one of the firsts on the ferry so we could stand in the front and had a perfect view of the Skyline and I think I will go next friday again and take some night shots !! After coming back into civilization we walked through Chinatown and Little Italy because Gustaf was looking for some “original ” sun glasses;)Unfortunately he didn´t find them and we walked through the overcrowded little Italy and werent succesful at all.. Then we went to Emma´s appartement and ordered some pizza and bought some beer (finally after almost two months I had a german beer again !! it is still the best beer in the world 
)and Emma had some wine and we drank that too and after having a great time at her appartement we went out to a nice jazz club and it was a really small club with some small tables and a bar and in the corner the band was playing and it was very nice and exactly what I expected !! But in her neigbhorhood there are a lot of gay people so when we came out of the bar there were all those gay couples walking around and it was very funny to watch 
And today was very laid back because I came home about 12 30 because I slept at Emmas and then I talked to my family once again and after that I decided to go back in the city because it was way to nice outside and I don´t know how long it will stay like that so I went to Central park and later I met Gustaf and Emma again and we chilled at Bryant Park ( they have wifi there …it´s pretty cool ). And thats about my weekend . I really had a blast this weekend and I am looking forward to the weekend in two weeks when the band is coming again to the bar and we promised them to come back and I know we will !!

…so today I was alone with the kids in the morning for the first time. And everything went well but the stupid bus showed up at 7 40 and I am supposed to drive my little kid to school at 7 45 , so I hope the bus will show up earlier tomorrow because I dont need that every morning . But I guess I will find it out tomorrow!!So , when the kids were in school I went to Manhattan to that great store and I bought a Ralph Lauren polo shirt for 24 bucks !! and a nice element hoody for just 34 dollars …oh and some nike socks lol . But in total I saved 60 Dollars and bought stuff for which I would have paid a lot more money in Germany . So you see it pays to be an Aupair in New York City and of course to have so amazing friends who show you stores like that haha And when I came home there was this package from urban outfitters with the shoes , I orderd , in it I would say a perfect start of a day lol Then I picked up the little kid from school and at the time the old child was supposed to come home I played with the little child in the basement and I didnt hear him knock , so he got really upset and that was kind of awkward but he got back into track and you know what : The good thing about mistakes , even if they are bad , is that they will most likely not happen again !! And after this little disappointment I prepared dinner for the family as a little treat . I made the only meal I can prepare really well : Letcho Chicken !!And I miss preparing it for me and my mom And it was the first time since I got here that I didnt get super greasy dinner haha so it was good for me , as well. Yeah , and thats pretty much of my day . Ohhh and today was the premier of the new Office season and it felt soo cool that I could watch it on the TV and dont have to search the internet the next day . Thursday is my new tv day haha : First the office and then Community and then Its always sunny in Philadelphia
Okay I should focus on the tv again lol

…Okay short entry today . I spent the day walking around the Brookyln Bridge with Carol and I took some photos but I have to admit that I prefer the Bridge at night because not as many people are on the bridge and all the lights of the city are on !! And then she showed me this store where they have all those designer stuff for reaaaally cheap prices . I will definitely go there again next weekend haha !! Well, that day is already two days behind me but it was really weird being in New York on that date.They put up those big lights and they pointed into the air where the Twin Towers were and they read out all the names of the people who died and there were always two people doing that : One who actually lost someone on that day and a volunteer and that was very moving to watch , even just on TV.Unfortunately I couldn´t actually go down to Ground Zero butI saw the lights from the subway.And I had my placement test for my college class on that morning but it wasn´t too hard but it felt so weird to be back in a classroom and to write a test .
Its also turning into fall in NYC and the nights are getting colder but so far it is just wet but they say fall is usually very pretty and dry so lets hope for the best!!
I am going to bed now and hope that my cold won´t get any worse ….

Last night was amazing !! We had such a blast . I have never ever seen something like that before . They didn´t play any song . They were just jamming all night long and they had a lot of guests (different rapper,an amzing sould woman from brooklyn and two women playing sax).And everyone on the stage was just soo amazing with his instument and I just enjoyed every second of it . The location is also pretty cool and not too big and not too small. Here you get a little taste of the show : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw-85MIwd8Q .I would say that these ten dollars were like the best ten dollars I spent in the USA since I got here !!!!Too bad they only play on tuesdays because I would go again next week .And this city really never sleeps because when I took back the subway there were still a few people at the stations and in the trains . Def. not as many people as during the day but still more people than you would see in Giessen at 3 o´clock . I hope this concert was just the beginning of a great concert year lol . Tonight Asher Roth and N.E.R.D are playing at Jones beach but unfortunatley I can´t go because I am not only here for the fun . No, I have to work , too ….
Tomorrow I will get both kids ready for school and drop off the little one at his school for the first time . I am very excited to see how that will work out since my young kid is very picky with the stuff he eats so we will see if he has to go to school hungry or not haha .
I better go to bed now because getting them ready for school also means getting up at six 
and I am definitely not excited about that !!!

and the next one is hopefully coming up tomorrow. Okay , lets start talking about yesterday. Like I told you earlier , my hostfamily left around 12 and then I talked with my mom and my brother for a long time and I always enjoy speaking to them !! After that I went downtown to meet Gustaf and to buy me a new hat . A White Sox hat . LETS GO WHITE SOX lol.We just walked around Houston street and I really like this neigborhood . It kind of felt like walking around in a bigger european city and they had all those little stores and boutiques and a lot of interesting people and everyone had his own style . I really enjoyed being there !!Then we grabbed dinner at a very nice taco place and talked for a little while. So that was yesterday . Today , I got up at ten in the morning and skyped with Laurenz, Kevin and my dad. I don´t know why but we always speak for a long time haha and that´s why I wasn´t able to leave the house before two but thats were the disaster started : I don´t know why but I took the wrong subway and had a really hard time to get back where I started but I made it and I now know which subway I shouldnt take ..always think positive lol but while I got off at the wrong station I saw a nice house and it was covered with graffitis and it seemed like it is legal there because people were spraying and I will def. go there again. Then I met Gustaf and Josef from slovakia in Brooklyn in a beautiful park right at the east river and you had a pretty view of all the bridges and Midtown Manhattan and after I started to get hungry haha we left and walked around a little bit and we saw this house with all those alternative looking people around so we went in and it was really nice and a very laid back atmosphere and we decided to come back to this place pretty soon . After finding this awesome spot we went back to 14th street and 9th avenue because we decided to spent the night at the Higline . So we bought pizza and just sat down on the Highline and Gustaf had those Ipod speakers and we listened to some jazz and when I started playing Freundeskreis this one guy stopped and he started bouncing to the beat and then he asked what language it was and I said that it is german. And nobody complained about the fact that we were playing our music , I think it wouldnt have take more than five minutes in Germany untill someone would have shown up and told us to turn down the volume.
So we just chilled untill the park closed which is unfortunately at 1o . One of my best nights since I came here for sure and I am really excited for the brazilian day tomorrow.

Well, today we went down to the Village and went to my hostdad´s school because he had to arrange some stuff and you wont believe it but this school had only brandnew iMacs !! The City of new York must have a lot of money. But before that we we went to a Pizza place and they had slices of Pizza for just one Dollar and the Pizza wasn´t bad at all !! After he cleaned his classroom and arranged everthing we went on the roof of the building and they have a playground on the roof . That was very cool . After playing on the roof we walked over to Union Square and hung out at Barnes and Nobles (a big book store ) and the book stores are way cooler than in Germany , because you can just grab a book and sit down on the floor and read it for a while and no one shows up and asks you to put the book back or buy it if you are reading for more than 10 minutes.Hmm that was pretty much my day and tomorrow my hostfamily is going down to Philly and I stay here and they will leave about 12 , so I have literally two and a half days off !!! Yihaa

I finally have it !!! A brandnew Macbook Pro is sitting on my lab right now I havent seen something beautiful for a long , long time !!Maybe I am kind of crazy about these things but it really looks awesome and completely timeless.
And the “relationship ” with me and my Macbook began pretty good because it was supposed to be ready by tomorrow but today the Apple store told me that I can pick it up today and thats what I did and I also caught the Express train on my way home . So a perfect start lol.
But I think another fact why I am so excited about this Macbook , is the fact that I worked hard for it and didn`t just get it for christmas. And I can tell you : The last weeks were very hard because I had to live on a very low budget and everything was on sale but I had a goal and I think I reached that goal today and it feels very good !!!
And I didn`t realized it but I am off on Saturday and Sunday so I won`t go down to Philly and stay in New York instead.
Okay I will just explore my Mac a little bit more and I think I will install Mac OS X Snow Leopard tomorrow (the brandnew operating system )

Okay here I am again . Sorry for the long delay but I haven’t had a lot of time in San Diego because I either went running or went down to the Beach and I usually came back too late to update the blog. So where to begin ??
The start wasn’ t too good because we didn’t get on the same flight and that meant that I had to fly with my hostmom and my hostdad flew with the two kids but it wasn’t too bad since I could relax on the flight . San Diego was very nice and we spent mostly every day at the beach and I got sooo tanned . I think i have never had so much tan in my life and I was there for just two weeks .I wonder how I would look like after some months haha.But I didn’t like San Diego too much . It was just not big enough lol but I came from New York maybe I just expected to much but I think LA would be the right city for me because it is in California and it is a big city and it is near the Ocean . I also didn’t like the Suburb we lived so much because there were mostly very rich and old people and I think two Ferarri dealer and one Bentley,Maserati,Rolls Royce and Bugatti dealer say a lot about this part of the city and there was like almost nobody out there after nine but I had a nice time just sitting on a bench near the beach and watch the Lights around me but it felt kind of weird sitting there totally alone at the beach . People must have thought that I don’t have friends and that I am depressed haha. Fortunately I met two girls from Switzerland and I spent three of my four off days with them and we had a great time and I am happy that they will visit me around Christmas.Thanks again for spending the days with me .
But most of the days looked like that: Getting up at 7 , making breakfast then hanging around …having lunch and then we would go to one of the Beaches and after 5 we would have dinner and then taking the kids to their shower and then they would go to bed and I am off and then I either went running or hung out at my favorite spot at beach called “the Cove”.
But we also went to the San Diego Zoo but unfortunately way too short because it was very hot and the kids didn’t want to walk so much . I also saw the USS Midway( an aircraft carrier) and it was soooo huge and very nice !!
Fortunately I went to the Pacific Beach which is famous as a surfing spot and I liked that area way more than La Jolla because it was very laid back and a lot of surfers and young people who aren’t running around in polo shirts and carry around dior or Louis Vuitton bags.
The flight back to New York was very smooth and we all got on the same flight . Unfortunately I didn’t get a first class seat again but it was fine because I could relax again on the plane and get my sleep back because the plane left at 6 15 and I had to get up at four in the morning.
And today I finally went to the Applestore and ordered my Macbook Pro and I will have it by Wednesday . I am sooo excited!!And I can’t wait to upload the pictures and to see how they look on the big screen.
Well, I think you should be up to date again and I will watch some videos on the Apple page about how a Mac works and all this kind of stuff.
This Friday I will go up to Philadelphia because my hostdad has an art show there and we will stay untill Saturday because the opening is on Saturday I think and on Sunday I will probably go to the Brazilian day in Manhattan with some other Au-pairs and I think that should be a lot of fun !

Okay, everything is packed and I am ready to head to San Diego !!!Unfortunately we changed the flight again , so we are leaving at 6 :50 am and I gotta get up at 4 :15 am ….but I am going to Cali so that evens it out !!
